| Summary, etc. | Optimizing outcomes for women in labour at the global_x000D__x000D_ level requires evidence-based guidance of health workers_x000D__x000D_ to improve care through appropriate patient selection and_x000D__x000D_ use of effective interventions. In this regard the World_x000D__x000D_ Health Organization (WHO) published recommendations_x000D__x000D_ for induction of labour in 2011. _x000D__x000D_ _x000D__x000D_ The goal of the present guideline is to consolidate the guidance for effective_x000D__x000D_ interventions that are needed to reduce the global burden_x000D__x000D_ of prolonged labour and its consequences.
