520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. From 2011 to 2015, the New York Times Op-Ed section hosted the Disunion blog, an online series launched to commemorate the long string of anniversaries over the five-year course of America's most destructive and divisive conflict. Celebrated upon publication for their startling originality and uncanny ability to convey immediacy and inspire fresh thought, the Disunion pieces were an integral part of the Civil War's sesquicentennial celebrations and indeed came to define them. Now, for the first time, the best essays selected from the entirety of the blog are collected in book form, and are presented alongside original introductions. Uniting once again, Edward L. Widmer, George Kalogerakis, and Clay Risen have curated a unique and unforgettable history of the Civil War, from Fort Sumter to Appomattox.
